Cruise Control

The Feature Your Vehicle Skipped

Plenty of work vehicles and base models left the lot without cruise control, and long drives pay for it. We add a proper cruise system that ties into your throttle and controls, with a switch that looks factory. No guesswork, no janky aftermarket feel, just cruise that engages, holds, and cancels the way it should. We have added cruise control to thousands of vehicles across the Metro East.

Vehicle Fitment

What Can Have Cruise Control Added?

This is the first thing everyone asks, and the answer depends less on how new your vehicle is than on how it controls its throttle. An added system has to hold the throttle steady at your set speed, and how it does that is what separates one vehicle from the next.

Older vehicles generally run a cable throttle, where a physical cable ties the gas pedal to the engine, so an added system needs a way to act on that cable. Most modern vehicles are drive-by-wire: the pedal is a sensor and the computer opens the throttle, so the system works electronically instead. Both are normal aftermarket cruise control installation work. What matters is whether a proven system exists for your exact year, make, model, engine, and transmission.

Most Common

Trucks & Work Trucks

Base-trim and fleet pickups are what we see most. Ordered without cruise to hit a price, then driven all day on I-64, I-70, and I-270. Adding it back is our most common cruise control installation.

Base Models

Cars & Commuters

Entry trims often left the lot without cruise while the trim one step up had it standard. Adding cruise control to a car that did not come with it is the same job, held to the same standard.

Fleet & Commercial

Work & Cargo Vans

Service and cargo vans cover serious highway miles, sometimes the whole Metro East in a day. Running several? We can spec them the same way so every driver gets the same system.

Automatic or manual, the same questions decide it:

Year, make, model, and trim level
Engine, and automatic or manual
Cable-operated or drive-by-wire throttle
Whether it was built with wiring for the factory cruise option
What is already mounted around your steering column
Whether a proven system exists for that exact combination

If the answer is yes, you get a clear quote before anything comes apart. If it is not a good candidate, we say so instead of experimenting on it. That is why drivers searching for cruise control installation near me make the drive to Belleville from across the Metro East and St. Louis.

How We Do It

Integrated, Not Bolted On

The Right System

Matched to Your Vehicle

We fit a cruise system designed for your make and model so it talks to the throttle correctly and holds speed smoothly, the way the factory option would.

Factory-Style Controls

A Switch That Belongs

We mount a clean stalk or steering-wheel switch that looks like it came with the vehicle, so it is easy to reach and easy to use.

Wired Right

Clean and Reliable

We integrate it into your wiring properly and test it on the road, so it engages, holds, and cancels exactly like it should, every time.

Factory-style cruise control switch, the only visible part of a clean Xclusive Autosound install
Hidden, Except This

The Only Part You Ever See

The cruise module, the wiring, and the throttle integration all tuck away behind your dash. This factory-style switch is the only sign anything was added, right where your hand expects it.

Where that switch lives depends on the vehicle. On most, a factory-style stalk or a switch on the left side of the steering wheel shroud puts set, resume, and cancel exactly where your hand already goes. Some vehicles were built with blank switch positions on the wheel or column, and whether yours can use them is one of the things we check.

Using it takes no learning. Get up to speed, set it, and the system holds. Touch the brake and it drops out, the same as factory cruise. Every other control in your cabin keeps working exactly as before.

The Install

What Actually Happens at the Shop

Cruise control is not a plug-in accessory. It has to see vehicle speed, act on the throttle, and release the moment you touch the brake, which means real work behind the dash. That is why it belongs on an engineer-led bench.

1

We Confirm the Vehicle

Before anything is ordered we verify what your year, make, model, engine, and transmission take, and you get the price up front.

2

We Get Behind the Dash

Panels come off carefully. The module and wiring go where they belong, routed out of sight and clear of your feet and knees.

3

We Mount the Switch

The control goes in a factory-style position within easy reach, so the only visible change looks like a box someone ticked at the dealer.

4

We Road-Test It

It is not finished until it has been driven. We set it, hold it, and cancel it on real roads. Most installs take about half a day.

Backed either way. Every cruise control install we do carries a 3-year, 36,000-mile warranty.

Common Questions

Cruise Control FAQ

Can you add cruise control to a vehicle that did not come with it?

Most likely, yes. A lot of work vehicles and base models can have a proper cruise system added. Tell us your year, make, and model and we will confirm exactly what yours takes.

Will it work like factory cruise control?

Yes. We fit a system matched to your vehicle so it engages, holds your set speed, and cancels smoothly, just like the factory option would, with a switch that looks like it belongs.

Does it work on automatic and manual transmissions?

Both. We set the system up correctly for your drivetrain so it operates safely and predictably whether you drive an automatic or a manual.

Where does the cruise control switch go?

Usually on the left side of the steering wheel shroud, within easy reach. We mount a clean factory-style switch where your hand naturally falls, so it looks like it came with the vehicle, not bolted on after.

Will adding cruise control hurt my throttle, electronics, or warranty?

No. We integrate it into your throttle and wiring the right way and road-test it before you leave, so it is reliable and clean. Done correctly, it works like it was always there.

How long does it take and what does it cost?

It depends on your vehicle and how its throttle and steering controls are set up. We give you a clear quote up front, and most installs are completed in about half a day.

Is the cruise control install covered by a warranty?

Yes. Every cruise control install comes with a 3-year, 36,000-mile warranty. In all the systems we have installed, we cannot recall a single failure, but you are covered either way.

Can you add cruise control to a drive-by-wire vehicle?

Drive-by-wire is how most modern vehicles work, and it is normal aftermarket cruise control installation work. Instead of pulling a throttle cable, the system works with the vehicle electronically. Send us your year, make, model, engine, and transmission and we will confirm.

What about an older vehicle with a cable throttle?

Same job, different route. On a cable throttle the system needs a way to act on the physical cable rather than talk to a computer. Tell us what you drive and we will tell you honestly whether a proven system exists for it.

Can I use the steering wheel buttons my vehicle already has?

Some vehicles were built with blank switch positions on the wheel or column because the same parts were used across trims. Whether yours can use them, or is better served by a factory-style stalk or shroud switch, is one of the things we check.

Do you install cruise control on work vehicles and fleet vans?

Yes. Base-trim pickups and cargo vans are what we see most for this, because they are the ones ordered without cruise and then driven all day. Running several? We will spec them the same way so every driver gets the same system.

Is this the same as adaptive cruise control?

No. Adaptive cruise control uses radar or cameras to follow the vehicle ahead and is a factory driver-assist system. What we add is conventional cruise control: you set a speed and the vehicle holds it.

Where do you install cruise control near St. Louis?

Everything is installed at our Belleville, Illinois shop, minutes from Swansea, Fairview Heights, and Shiloh, with O'Fallon and Collinsville a short drive away, and plenty of customers cross the river from St. Louis for it. Searching for cruise control installation near me anywhere in the Metro East? That is us.
